Everyone knows how anxiety, stress or fear impacts our breathing. Few understand how to use breathing to moderate or even alleviate anxiety, stress or fear. For example, when a person has an anxiety attack, they only have to alter their breath patterns to overcome hyperventilation and become calm and balanced.
Breathing also engages the Vagus nerve and results in the "relaxation response".
Reducing anxiety and stress enhances healing and allows you to fall into the natural rhythm of life force flowing through.
Breath facilitation is a method that allows us to enhance our health on all levels - physical, emotional, spiritual and mental. Andy Caponigro, (“The Miracle of Breath: Mastering Fear, Healing Illness, and Experiencing the Divine”, 2005, 316 pp. New World Library, Novato, CA), was a concert guitarist, and later he began developing breath facilitation as a means to teach music to his students. He kept expanding his knowledge and personal experience with the power behind the breath, and then began to use his powerful and gentle techniques to support people in healing. I had the privilege of working with Andy for years , and have studied other techniques of breathwork as well.
Breath is also our connection with Source, The Divine - whatever you call that powerful aspect that gives us life. By learning to connect with that part of yourself, and in the process, transcending your "monkey mind",
